Launch your urban birding quest in one of Winnipeg’s premier birding hotspots – Assiniboine Park. Here favoured birding sites include the English Garden and along the south bank of the Assiniboine River. In spring and fall migration many of Manitoba’s warblers, sparrows and vireos may be present. In winter, look for waxwings, grosbeaks and crossbills. Listen for songbirds along the trail through dense oak and aspen in the adjacent Assiniboine Forest. Follow a paved path to the observation mound overlooking Eve Werier Pond.
