La Barriere Park
Follow unmarked but well maintained trails along the La Salle River in La Barrière Park for a bit of urban wilderness at the southern tip of Winnipeg. Paddle the gently moving waters of the La Salle – odds are good for a close encounter with a Great Blue Heron gliding above the river or a white-tailed deer sipping daintily at the water’s edge. Like Assiniboine Park, it is a good place to check for migrating songbirds.
